Small Ball Poker with Daniel Negreanu
“Small Ball” is a term coined by Dan Negreanu for his style of loose/aggressive play. These three videos give a good introduction to the “system” but beware, this is not a good way to play for a beginner. You really need discipline for throwing away good hands at the right time, avoidng traps, and solid post-flop decision making to make this style of play work.
Small ball is all about projecting a very loose table image, almost looking like a maniac, so you get a lot of action from your opponents. This allows you to set big traps when you have the nuts because your opponents won’t be able to put a good read on you. You enter a lot of pots, while limiting the amount of chips you’re risking and avoiding the big pots unless you’re on a winner.
Putting very simply – you want to see lots of flops, defend your blinds, give a very aggressive and loose table image which will make your opponents think twice about raising you or stealing your blinds. You’ll miss a lot on the flop and loose a lot of hands – but when you win you win big!
